Clean Materials

A 2040 Blueprint for
PNW Leadership

The Center for Sustainable Infrastructure’s report, From Waste Management to Clean Materials, details a clear pathway that creates tens of thousands of clean materials jobs across the region by 2040, along with urgently-needed improvements for the health and well-being of people and the planet. The report serves as a blueprint for transforming the Pacific Northwest’s waste system into a world-class model that delivers widespread economic, health, and environmental benefits.

"If we explore materials analytically, we find that disposal often contributes only 1-2% of most types of environmental impacts. As much as 99% of the impacts can occur upstream of the consumer."
